We are Sophie, Nina and Dirk – nursing students and a physiotherapy student. From March 2025 we will be leaving for Uganda for 3.5 months, where we will conduct research into children with cerebral palsy at Angels Centre. This centre provides care to children with motor disabilities, but struggles with limited resources that are crucial for improving their quality of life.
In Uganda, the possibilities for providing medical care and therapies are often limited for these children. As a result, many children do not receive the right resources and support they need to improve their motor skills and achieve a greater level of independence. We want to commit ourselves to these children by conducting research into their care needs and possible solutions, so that we can help Angels Centre with concrete recommendations for improving care.
To support this work, we will participate in the Uganda half marathon at the end of May 2025. We do this not only as a physical challenge, but also as a means to raise financial support for Angels Centre. The proceeds will be used directly to purchase the necessary resources and care facilities, such as physiotherapy equipment and other essential supplies, that can improve the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy.
With this campaign, we hope not only to create awareness about cerebral palsy in Uganda, but also to generate the resources that are essential to improve the care and living conditions of these children. We are determined to do our part for the future of these children, and hope that you will support us in this mission.
