Volunteering In childcare for 8 weeks in Tanzania

Donation protected

Hi my name is Kacey ,
I am travelling to Arusha Tanzania on June 29th, where I will volunteer in childcare for 8 weeks starting July 1st.
I will be volunteering in a country
whereby extreme poverty is everyday life for many families. I will be working in childcare centres that many families rely on for support. I will be providing assistance in these childcare centres which need extra help as they are under-funded and under-resourced. These centres cater for children by providing them with education, interaction and food.
In order for me to achieve my goal of volunteering in Tanzania, I will be asking for sponsorship. Your contribution however small, will cover the cost of the volunteer program fee, vaccines and essential supplies such as educational stationary, clothes, food for the children that I will be working with. All Donations will enable me to travel to Tanzania to work with community projects that help to combat the inadequate educational opportunities and scarcity of employment which keep the youth in the poverty cycle.

Your impact❗️
Childcare centers and kindergartens in low-income areas of Arusha are often lively places, and many families rely on them for support while they go to work for the day. Volunteers can ease the workload of local staff and help them provide better quality care for preschoolers.

The aim of the Childcare project in Tanzania is to provide assistance in childcare centers which need extra help as they are often under-funded and under-resourced. These centers cater to children from low-income families, providing them with education, interaction and food.

As a Childcare volunteer you will assist in daycares and kindergartens that are often underfunded, under-resourced and in need of extra help. Volunteers provide valuable support by:
* Assisting with teaching
* Caring for children
* Playing games and arranging activities
* Helping with feeding and mealtimes
* Interacting and engaging with children
* Other general duties.

Within childcare placements most of the children have very poor backgrounds. The government in Tanzania is trying to focus more on educating children and moving away from childcare institutions such as orphanages. Therefore a lot of daycare and nursery facilities that the local team works with will have a portion of children that will attend for free and often the food they get there is their only food of the day. There are other children that can maybe pay half and some that pay full to compensate for others but this is a very small fee. The facilities get no government support and are started by people with kind and generous hearts but therefore they always need additional help. The children are most likely to be living in a single room at home either brick or mud but rented, they will live with one or both parents but most have a large number of siblings and the whole family will share one room and one bed. Home visits with the childcare placements are a great way to see for yourself the conditions the children are living in
