Hello everyone, I’m Madi!

As a trainee teacher at the University of Southampton, I believe that education is the most powerful tool for changing a child’s future. Next month, I am taking that belief beyond my own classroom and heading to Nakuru, Kenya, to volunteer with African Adventures.

During my time in Kenya, I will be working with three local schools, founded by community members who refused to let their children go without an education. These schools serve as a lifeline for the community, but they face immense challenges:

• Zero Government Funding: Most of these partner schools receive no government support.

• Overcrowded Classrooms: Teachers work tirelessly in spaces that are often under-resourced and over-capacity.

• Limited Access: For many families in Nakuru, the basic cost of education is simply out of reach.

I am raising funds to provide essential supplies that will be purchased by myself for the schools and to ensure I am able to volunteer and help as much as possible. Upon arrival, our group will sort through the donations collected, ensuring that the right children receive exactly what they need most.

Your contributions will go toward:

• School Supplies: Stationery, notebooks, and learning materials.

• Sanitary Products: Ensuring girls can stay in school with dignity.

• Clothing & Sports Equipment: Promoting health, play, and basic well-being.

• Books: Building libraries to foster a love for reading.

• Lesson Resources: I will also use a portion of the proceeds to fund high-quality resources for the specific lessons I will be teaching and ensuring I can volunteer to the best of my ability.

African Adventures is an organisation that focuses on long-term, sustainable impact. Over the years, the charity has made a profound impact on their partner schools, and I am incredibly proud to soon be a part of that journey.

By supporting this trip, you are helping not just the children, but the local staff who work every day to ensure these students receive an education that can truly enhance their futures.

Whether it’s the price of a coffee or a larger contribution, your support means so much!

Thank you for helping me make a difference! :)
