Help Callum Volunteer for Schools in Zanzibar

Hi Everyone, my name is Callum, and I am 15 years old. I am currently in Yr. 10 studying for my GCSE's. I am a kind and caring person. I work hard and I am dedicated to doing well in my studies and achieving all the ambitions I set myself.

I am a lover of maths, history and computer science as well as geography. A fun fact about me is that I can name every country of the world, all 197 of them, in under 15 minutes!!

Outside of school and studies I have been a member of the scouting community since I was 5 years old, I have been involved with so many camping and scouting activities. I have volunteered for the cubs for two years now as I believe that giving back is important and rewarding.

I am also currently doing my Silver DofE, I have worked hard on the expeditions and have done a range of activities throughout my bronze and silver awards including, life-guarding and bouldering.

When I have time to relax, I like to do reading and gaming.

I have managed to secure a place on a wonderful trip of a lifetime volunteering at a school in Zanzibar. I am going to be taking part in some fundraising activities such as hiking and group activities to raise money towards my place. As well as hopefully earning a few of my own pennies along the way. I will update this page with new information about the activities I will be taking part in.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous island of the coast of Tanzania, East Africa, it is home to Stone Town, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Company, African Adventures (https://www.africanadventures.co.uk/) , offer a life changing experience for those is the UK and in Africa. They are partnered with 6 schools in Zanzibar and more in countries such as Ghana and Kenya. The trip lasts for 8 nights, and I have the option of volunteering through 3 different options which include teaching, sports coaching and building/renovations. I will also have time to look around when not volunteering to experience the island and other activities such as snorkeling and even visiting an island full of giant tortoises!
