Michael is heading to Kenya next Spring. Please read his story below.
Dear friends and family,
I have been presented with an amazing opportunity. This Spring, I will be traveling to Kenya with my Aunt Donna to help at Huruma children's home.
During my time in Kenya, I will be carrying out many tasks to help the children in the orphanage and the surrounding community. Some of the day-to-day tasks I will be completing are; repairs on the facility, helping educate the children inside and outside the classroom as well as preparing meals. As a personal goal, I plan on teaching the children at the orphange some of the sports I have played over the years.
I am responsible for my personal expenses in terms of travel, lodging, food, and supplies and I am hoping to raise $5000 to cover some of my personal expenses. I will donate all of the extra money I raise to the Huruma Children’s Trust (Canada) in memory of Allan Nixon (My Grandpa). Donations and volunteer work is this orphanage’s only means of survival. The money raised from donations help feed, house, educate and clothe over 250 children who are cared for at the orphanage. There is no government assistance or social security net in Kenya so every bit counts!
Thank you for reading my story. I appreciate all of your support!
