Medical & Mental Health Mission Trip-Arusha Law Enforcement

Dear Family and Friends,

I am preparing for a volunteer training mission to Arusha, Tanzania, where I will be working with KOPI , a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving emergency medical and mental health response in the region. Arusha, located in East Africa. The Arusha Traffic Police (APD), an organization striving to enhance emergency care. These hardworking professionals have never had the benefit of similar training, no ambulance service, no access to mental health support for themselves, no peer support, not even training in critical stress incidence training. A crucial part of this initiative involves the APD, as Arusha lacks an established ambulance service and formal paramedic training program.

I’m honored to be part of a mission to Africa, where I’ll provide critical incident stress management, peer support, and PTSD training to law enforcement officers and first responders. With over 30 years in probation and parole and licensure as a clinical social worker, I specialize in trauma-focused therapy for those who serve on the front lines. This mission is both a professional calling and a personal passion, and I’m seeking support to help make it possible.

Our nonprofit is bringing much-needed medical supplies to Arusha, funded through months of fundraising and secured grants. Two dedicated teams—one focused on emergency medical training, the other on mental health—have been preparing for this mission for over 18 months. While we’ve made great progress, we’re still short on funding for travel expenses.

Your support will allow me to be part of this vital effort, equipping local officers with the skills and resources to strengthen emergency response and mental health care in their community.
