Volunteer Nursing Student in Kenya

Hi, my name is Eadaoin, and I am a 2nd year nursing student at the University of Galway.

As part of the 'international nursing' module I have undertaken, I have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Kericho County, Kenya, with the charity Brighter Communities Worldwide.

While I am volunteering, I will be involved in the medical and surgical care of adults and children, antenatal and postnatal care of inpatients, and vaccination programmes. I will also be taking part in an initiative to build smokeless stoves, which will reduce indoor air pollution and improve respitory health for families.

This trip is fully self-funded, with some donations going directly to the charity to help fund this project and other donations helping me cover flights, accommodation, and vaccine costs.
