Hi, my name’s Rowan, I am a 16 year old currently doing my A levels. I am raising money for a four week volunteering trip in Kenya during the summer of 2026. During the month I will work in hand with locals, building homes for the women in the villages and also building schools and classrooms for the local children additionally installing water storage systems, immersing myself in Kenyan culture whilst doing so. I will help protect the natural habitats of the incredible wildlife Kenya is famous for by taking part in activities like tree planting and goat de-worming. I will also participate in various workshops (such as making paper out of elephant dung). I will get to visit the Maasai tribe, learning about their traditions and cultures. I will also be completing the challenge of trekking up to the summit of Mount Kenya for 5 days, which takes place though stunning savannahs and equatorial rainforests. This is very important to me as I have always dreamed of taking part in a volunteering activity like this, gaining lifelong experience and learning about the ways various people live and how it differs from my life. The funds raised will be used for my food and accommodation, project costs, orientation and language lessons and many other attributes to the trip which make the experience one in a lifetime.
