Volunteer Building Cambodia 2025
Donation protected
We are a group of international colleagues who once a year come together to help build houses in support of Volunteer Building Cambodia. VBC is a locally run, community-driven non-government organization, focused on helping poor Cambodian families improve their living conditions.
This year we aim to build 2 houses, each of which costs $3000, plus 2 outhouses with toilets at $320 each. We pay for all our own personal costs so all funds raised go directly to the build of the houses
Founded in 2014 (and currently still being headed by the founder Mr. Sinn Meang, a Cambodian local), Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC) provides impoverished families in rural Siem Reap Province with sturdy homes, wells, solar systems, toilet facilities, and bio-sand water filters.
Approximately 80% of Cambodians live in rural areas where a staggering 85% are without access to adequate sanitation facilities and 35% do not have access to safe drinking water. Many of these families live on less than a few dollars a day. Owning a sturdy home that can protect from the elements gives these families a much-needed helping hand. This allows them to focus on making an income and raising their families. Similarly, having access to safe water sources and sanitation facilities improves the health of these families. This allows them to be more productive and also happier.
To date, VBC has built 467 houses, provided 214 water wells, and installed 301 toilets, 204 solar panels, and 118 clean water bio-sand filters.
In providing safe secure housing, sanitation facilities, and education VBC hopes to help break the poverty cycle and support its families on their journeys to self-sufficiency
