Volunteer Abroad- Teaching English

Hi! My name is Lynn Beal. When I first thought about my senior project for St. Paul High School, I knew I wanted it to be unique. I decided to volunteer abroad to teach English in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. International Volunteer HQ and Maximo Nivel provide this opportunity to teach English for 3 weeks in July while staying with a local family.

English students in Manuel Antonio will include both adults and children who need to learn how to speak English if they are to secure employment in the booming tourism industry. I hope to be able to positively impact their lives - while being immersed in their culture.

For this program, there are many fees including plane tickets, program fees, travel insurance, and money for food and transport. My parents said they would support my choice, but I would need to raise the funds. As a seventeen-year-old, I cannot pay for all of these fees by myself. All of the money I earn will go towards expenses directly related to this volunteering project.
