Riley's Fight

Happy New Year.

My name is Priscilla Scott-Boyle. On behalf of myself and Dina O’Hare, directors of Cheer Force Athletics and Above the Bar Gymnastics Academy, we are sharing with you a very unfortunate adversity that is happening within our athletic family.

Kimberly Weimmer, our other director, whom you all may know, is a mother of 4 children and also a Bayonne Board of Education teacher. Riley, her oldest daughter,a 12 year old, 7th grader at Horace Mann school as well as a CFA athlete is fighting a battle that no child should have to fight. Riley was diagnosed in mid December with a brain tumor, a cancer called Medulloblastoma.

Since being diagnosed, Riley has undergone brain surgery. Her team of doctors have removed 95% of the brain tumor, which is the BEST Christmas present we could ask for! She is to undergo radiation and chemotherapy and her family is waiting to see what the next steps will be. She is still in the hospital for an undetermined amount of time.

Riley is an amazing child. She may be small but so fierce in everything she does.

She truly has the heart of a fighter and we as a community want to fight this battle with her.

As this unexpected news was shocking, especially to all the children of our community, we did not share this information until now as we have been respecting the privacy of Riley’s family.

As we are hoping to help ease the Weimmer financial burden, we are asking our community to come together and donate. Even the smallest amount will make a big difference and is greatly appreciated!!
