On Friday December 21, 2018 while everyone was preparing for the holiday festivities, Vince and Marissa began preparing their 2 year old daughter Vivienne to battle cancer. Earlier that day Vivienne had blood work drawn after her first ever ear infection that just would not go away. When the results were in Vincent and Marissa were told they needed to rush Vivienne to Geisinger Danville’s Janet Weiss Children’s hospital. Her platelet count was very low and she was at risk for bleeding out. They were told a doctor would be waiting for them and that most likely Vivienne had Leukemia.
In the days that followed Vivienne underwent numerous tests, blood tests, surgery to place a port, bone marrow biopsy, and lower lumbar puncture. The results gave them a diagnosis of B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. So on Christmas Eve instead of preparing for Santa Vivienne received her first round of Chemo in what will likely be 2 and half years worth of treatment. Vivienne’s parents Vincent and Marissa will remain in Danville with Vivienne until she is healthy enough to come home and continue her treatment as an outpatient.
Vince, Marissa and Vivienne will need all the prayers and support that we can send their way. There will be lots of medical expenses and loss of income for this family as they battle this horrible disease. We are looking to offset the costs for them as much as possible so that Vince and Marissa can focus their time and energy to Vivienne’s care and not have to worry about the expenses.
