Hi, my name's Vivienne, and, after years of going to scouts and to scout camp, I'm really excited that I've been accepted for an expedition to The Gambia with Hampshire Scouts in December 2026.

It's more than just travel! We'll be renovating a local school, taking supplies with us (books, stationery, etc), working with Gambian Scouts and learning about their life and culture. We'll be there for two weeks.

We'll also be spending part of our weekends beforehand to learn renovation skills and work as a team.

I’m over the moon about the trip because I've read about Africa and seen it on the television but never thought I'd have the chance to go.

The expedition is expensive! Because we're paying for travel and accommodation plus supplies and our training. I've already raised some money and will be working hard between now and Christmas to raise as much as I can through fundraising activities and events.

To raise the money I will be:

✔ Doing a sponsored litter-pick from Southampton to Winchester along the Itchen

✔ Hosting a "how to buy and sell on Vinted" webinar with mum

✔ Chopping firewood and selling it as kindling

✔ Babysitting and dog-sitting

✔ Helping neighbours list things on Vinted
