Help Viva and her family

Hello,

We are Fanny and Sonja and we are fundraising for our best friend's daughter Viva Iris.

Viva was taken ill about five weeks ago. At first her parents were told it was a regular virus but after countless times at the emergency room she was finally put in at ICU at Östra hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. The doctors ran tests and and found out her kidneys were inflamed and not functioning and her potassium levels extremely high. After further tests and biopsy the doctors has told her parents Viva Iris has MPA, Microscopic Polyangiitis, is a condition that causes small blood vessels to be inflamed. It’s a rare type of vasculitis, this is a very rare illness to see in children and they are not sure what the future looks for Viva right now. The doctors are treating the inflammation aggressively with chemotherapy, plasmaspheres, steroids etc to fight the inflammation in her kidneys. There is a 50/50 chance that her kidneys will start functioning again and she might have to stay at the hospital for 4 weeks or more, everything hangs in the balance and there is a lot of unknowns at this time. There will be years of treatment after this initial outbreak. We are asking for people to help fund the Hedman-Albertsson family during this very difficult time, thank god in Sweden healthcare is free but the family at this time are not able to work, needing to be at their daughter side and taking care of Viva Iris younger sibling as well. We are hoping to raise this money for them so they can focus on their family during this time and not be worrying about getting evicted from their home or having bills stacking up.
