Across Connecticut, homelessness is a growing humanitarian crisis affecting individuals and families from every background. While some people imagine homelessness as something that happens “somewhere else,” the reality is that it is happening right here in our communities under bridges, behind stores, in parking lots, and in cars that serve as temporary shelter.

Some are elderly and isolated. Others lost their jobs unexpectedly. Many are veterans coping with trauma. Increasingly, entire families are living without stable housing, doing everything they can to keep their children safe during uncertain times.

Every day, these neighbors face a battle for survival seeking food, warmth, hygiene, and safety in places where resources are scarce. During the colder months, these struggles intensify, turning each night into a life-or-death challenge.

This is why the NightLight Homeless Assistance Program exists.

OUR MISSION: BRINGING SUPPORT DIRECTLY TO THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST

NightLight was founded on a simple belief: if individuals experiencing homelessness cannot reach the support they need, then the support must go to them.

Our volunteers travel directly to the places where unsheltered people live encampments, sidewalks, wooded areas, abandoned spaces, and hidden corners of towns that most people never see. We do not require paperwork, proof, or waiting in long lines. We meet people exactly where they are, with compassion, dignity, and genuine care.

WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP NOW

Over the past months, the number of people relying on NightLight’s outreach has grown significantly. With shelters filling and economic struggles rising, more individuals are turning to us for their only dependable source of food and essential supplies.

Our team is committed to showing up for them. But as the need grows, so does the cost of sustaining this work.

To continue providing consistent support and expand our outreach, we are seeking to raise $10,000. This funding will allow us to feed more people, provide more warm clothing and blankets, and ensure we can deliver vital supplies to anyone who needs them.

Bulk food purchases, prepared meals, water, snacks, and safe handling materials.

Coats, gloves, socks, hats, thermal clothing, blankets, and sleeping bags.

Soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wipes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and basic first-aid essentials.

Fuel, vehicle upkeep, storage costs, distribution tools, and volunteer safety supplies.

Every dollar directly helps someone surviving outdoors tonight. There are no salaries or excessive overhead—just direct service to people in crisis.
