London Marathon MyWay for Reading Mencap
Hi, my name is Louise and I work in the Family Support Service at Reading Mencap. On 27th April I'll be running 26.2 miles, taking part in the London Marathon MyWay. This will be my first ever marathon, and I’ve chosen to do this to raise money for Reading Mencap, who provide support and services for people with learning disabilities and their families in Reading.
A learning disability is life-long and affects someone’s ability to learn and manage everyday life. It’s different for everyone, and some people might need support in every area of their lives to reach their potential. Families and individuals I have worked with tell me that the work we do has made their lives better. They feel more confident and less lonely. I feel very lucky, as they have given me a lot of joy in return.
At Reading Mencap, we want the people we support to feel empowered to achieve what many of us take for granted – to be happy, healthy, have aspirations and choose how we live our lives. I'm fortunate that I can choose to run this marathon and it would mean a lot to the charity if you could consider supporting me along the way. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
Thank you!
