Vincent's Project for the Homeless
Hello I am Vincent and I am 13 years old. I started my Project for the Homeless when I was 7 years old after seeing a homeless person sleeping on the street. Since 2013 we have donated 4,075 packs to the homeless - $270,131.75 worth of goods. With the help of the community, my school and family I am able to put together packs for the homeless that provide the homeless with lots of different toiletries, a towel, a blanket and pillow, feminine hygiene products, a pen and notepad, a water bottle and a duffle bag. In my first year (2013) we made 100 packs. In 2018 my goal is between 1,500-2,000 packs. Each bag costs $67 and we need your help to get there! The money will be used to buy pillows, blankets, towels, shampoo, deodorant, combs, ponchos, tissues, sanitary pads, notebooks, pens, shaving products, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Last year students from 11 different schools came to help pack and the packs were distributed to 23 charities or community groups. When I first started my Project I initially wanted to help those homeless people I had seen on the street. Over the years though, I have been approached by more community groups, including a shelter for women escaping domestic violence, a government department that helps parolees, a drug rehabilitation centre, a group that helps pregnant teenagers and groups helping refugees. All money donated goes directly to buying products for our packs. Please help me reach my goal so we can reach more homeless people in need. Thankyou.
