Vincent Malcom Phillip Presland- Our Miracle Baby

On the 13th day of December 2017 our precious baby boy stole our hearts- albeit Extremely Prematurely.
Vincent was welcomed into the world 4 months before he was due to arrive (To be precise- he was 99 days or 2,376 hours premature), being classed as extremely premature and weighing a miniscule 575 grams at birth. To give you a better idea of how tiny Vincent was, a tub of butter, bottle of soft drink and two pieces of Chicken breast all weighed more than Vincent at birth.
Being so premature and weighing so little, Vincent’s loving parents Nicholas and Grace were confronted with every parent’s worst fears- The realisation that this precious little person they had been eagerly waiting to meet might be taken away from them well before his time.
Knowing that the odds were heavily stacked against their little family and that Vincent could be taken away at any moment, Nicholas and Grace spent every waking moment (and many sleeping) by Vincent’s side at the John Hunter Hospital’s NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
Thankfully, Vincent is now 8 weeks old and currently weighs 1,610 grams, (Almost the same as two iPads- a typical 8 week old weights around 5kgs).
Nicholas and Grace are extremely thankful to the staff of the John Hunter Hospital, their compassion, care and expertise are second to none. No words could begin to express the debt we owe the wonderful nurses doctors and specialist of the JHH NICU.
Nicholas and Grace long for the day when they can take little Vincent home. They are excited for the sleepless nights and dirty nappies. They know that so long as Little Vincent continues to battle the odds that they will be by his side doing everything they can to fight for his chance to live a normal life.
Vincent and his family have countless battles ahead, many that they must face together and overcome as a family. However, there is one battle that we can all help fight…
Raising an extremely premature Child is very costly. Furthermore, Nicholas and Grace had only just begun preparing their home for little Vincent’s arrival when he was born.
The amazingly generous owners of McDonalds Kurri Kurri have offered to pitch in and help baby Vincent on his journey. 20% of the profits generated between 6 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday the 21st of February will be kindly donated to Vincent’s family to assist in bringing him home and help ese the financial burden that lies ahead.
We urge everyone to come along, give generously and to do what you can to help give Vincent every opportunity that this beautiful little soul deserves.
For those unable to come along on the 21st but who still wish to help Vincent and his fight, we have also established a go fund me page where donations are able to be made.
