Helping aid villages in Flores, Indonesia
Donation protected
Please help me raise $800 to support the lives of underprivileged people in the remote villages of Matago, Neo and Wawa in Flores, Indonesia.
Australia, as the expression goes, is ‘The Lucky Country’, and being an Australian teenager, I am pretty sure I know what that expression means. It means that most of us here are fortunate to live in this developed, wealthy nation where our basic needs are met, such as nutritious food, access to clean water and medical treatment, and opportunities to gain a good quality education to give us the best chance in life.
However, I have learned that people living in the remote villages of Matago, Neo and Wawa in Flores, Indonesia are not so fortunate as to have all of their basic needs met, as nutritional food can be scarce, access to clean drinking water is hard come by, medical treatments and educational opportunities are very limited. Life is hard and consequences of not having access to basic human needs can be devastating.
I have been selected to travel to the remote villages in Flores as one of 12 high school students from Mandurah, Western Australia. We will travel alongside four teachers and representatives from our partnered non-profit organisation, the Flores Village Project , to gain more of an understanding of the daily struggle of the people in remote villages in Flores. We will be undertaking some jobs while we are there, including maintenance of local school buildings, some small construction/repairs including painting, and helping connect water pipes to villages. Alongside this, our school will be donating educational and recreational resources to the local schools. I hope that my skills in repairs and painting will prove useful (-; , but the job that will contribute most successfully -my most important job- is to raise funds to support the services provided by Flores Volunteer Project to improve the lives of people in these remote communities.
So… my GoFundMe request is to ask you to donate here to help me personally raise my part of $800 Australian dollars to contribute to essential works that are needed in order to improve the lives of the people of Matago, Neo and Wawa. Btw, this money does not go towards our travel expenses in any way! The donation will be handed to the Flores Village Project organisation who will use it directly for vital health services, improving the local schools and making clean water accessible for the villagers.
We have been busy at school fund-raising by organising a Free Dress Day and making and selling food such as, burgers and cupcakes to staff and students. We however, have a way to go to reach our collective goal of $10, 000. Your donation will really help me in my part of raising my target of $800. Any size donation will be greatly and humbly appreciated and go to a wonderful non-profit organisation that will directly improve the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves.
Kindest regards
