Hi, my name is Menete Hashipala, I came across one community school in Zemba and Himba community in the vilage called Omegete in the Northern part of Namibia . These tribes are known for their rich cultural heritage that has not been influenced by the modern world. However, they developed a desire for their children and future generations to be educated. For this reason the Head Master advocates the community to start school, he allocates four hectares of land for school in 2023. Therefore, Vihapa Community School was born.
The school started with children attending under the trees in 2024 and learned how to write in the sand. Meanwhile the community contributed what they could to build a classroom. The school started with ten children, within a week the school had 30 plus and this year 2025 the school has more than 40 children and the community managed to build one classroom.
However, the community school faced many financial challenges, therefore, Vihapa Community School appeals to the global community for help.
Attached there is an appeal letter from the chair person of Vihapa Community School. Your support could provide the resources needed to create a nurturing environment for these children. Each contribution no matter how small, can make a significant difference . Together , we can help shape a brighter future for the next generation in Omegete as Vihapa Community School stands as a symbol of hope for the Zemba and Himba tribes.
Many thanks for considering this cause that means so much to our community.
