All distributors in the industry, all Salon Owners, all salon customers and all business people in general are invited to contribute to this fund to provide support to help Salon Owners/Sole Operators survive until restrictions are lifted.

First time round, the salons and their teams rolled their sleeves up, bunkered down, and developed unique and creative ways for you to feel salon-good at home during the first lockdown.

Second time round, they will do the same.  They will be on the phone to you, smiling and sharing many more creative solutions for you to enjoy.

The reality is however, behind those smiling faces and voices, is doubt, uncertainty, fear and exhaustion!

Behind the scenes of our favourite salons, are a vast network of hard working friends and families. They work tirelessly, ensuring that their environments are welcoming, clean, stocked with beautiful product, and committed to transforming your skin and overall wellbeing. 

But you already knew this. In fact, you probably know a lot about your local salon, their team, who they are, and what makes them tick.  This is because they have been your haven and your escape. 

The reality is, there is a very real chance they may not survive this continued lockdown.  

We have dedicated this page to a network of Victorian salon owners and sole traders impacted by the extensions of restrictions announced over the first weekend of September 2020.  

Let's not sit around, and let them struggle through this tough time alone. Here is a practical step we can all take to lessen the burden and let our fellow Aussies know they are not in this alone.

If you have ever had a beauty treatment you enjoyed, if you have made a living by selling into or providing services to this industry, or if you are one of the lucky ones who has not had your income wiped out by these arbitrary lockdown rules and just want to give some hope and a message of real support, please make a contribution.

To get the ball rolling, one of the Behind the Scenes X (BTSX) sponsors, skin care distributor SKINFAKTOR Australia has pledged $1000 per month until Victorian restrictions are lifted.

No matter what size contributions can be spared, all contributors will be listed on an ‘Honour Roll’ on the Behind the Scenes X Facebook page.

 
Terms of the Fund

1.    All monies donated to the Save Victorian Salons Go Fund Me page will be distributed to eligible Salon Owners/Sole Operators affected by Stage 3 and Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria, Australia, on a calendar monthly basis.

2.    Distribution will be overseen by a firm of accountants who will maintain records to show where all donations have been sent. The decision of the accountants for allocation of funding is final (there may be a fee deducted for these third party services).

3.    The monthly pool of funds received will be distributed by percentage to all successful applicants. Funds will be proportionately distributed based on the salon owner’s/sole trader’s BAS sales declarations for the July – Sep 2019 period, as a percentage of the total pool.   

4.    Applications for funding must be received by the end of each month for funds from that month’s operation of the fund.

5.    Notice will be given and the fund will cease to operate at the beginning of the month after all Stage 3 and 4 restrictions for Victoria are lifted.

6.    Applications must be submitted by e-mail to [email redacted] with:

a)    Salon Owner/Sole Trader Name and ABN

b)    Supported details of business location (utility bill, rental agreement, website etc.)

c)    Contact email, mobile phone number

d)    Certificate of qualification in the beauty and/or dermal industry

e)    Attached ATO copy of BAS sales declaration (July-September 2019)

f)     Bank account details for recipient fund details

7.    Behind the Scenes X suggests that the minimum contribution be $10.00 (AUD).

8.    Funds may not be tax deductible for contributors and may be taxable as income in the hands of the recipient. Please obtain advice from your accountant.

9.    Salons in a trading group, or chains of 3 or more, including franchises, are ineligible for this funding

Let’s show some real, practical support for these Victorian Salon Owners & Sole Operators who have endured lockdown after lockdown and whose survival will be imperative for the industry and customers alike.
