Hannah Robson Dela Cuesta and Victor Dela Cuesta, you might know them as the awesome chef and owner of Viking Hat Bakery, but I know them as more. I know them as amazing partners who have opened their home to over 40 foster children over the last several years. Adding to their family through foster to adopt, two teenage boys that had been in their home in 2023.
With a chance to continue their fostering to adopt journey, they took on the financial burden of a home renovation to welcome an 11 year old young lady into the fold. A home that will provide safety, security and equity and a leg-up to a bright and connected future.
Unfortunately, as of today, they have learned that the original contractors on the home have left them high and dry, having not completed the work in a timely fashion, completing work poorly requiring portions to be gutted and redone.
After reaching out to me, I put them in touch with a trusted friend and contractor, who came today to give them a quote. They have been swindled, the work that had been partially completed must be demolished and started anew. There are also 2 bedrooms that were being renovated to welcome more children to their home.
The budget for this work no longer exists in order for this remodel (that will equal well over the goal set) to be completed and this wonderful young lady to enter their home where she has a chance to gain a family. These people have ceaselessly given back to the community, and it’s now our opportunity to do the same.
