Hello, my name is Suraj Pudasaini, and I am a 16-year-old British-born Nepali boy who has strong patriotic attachments to his home country, Nepal. I am deeply saddened to hear about the catastrophic flooding and landslides that have killed 87 people until now and have displaced and made thousands and thousands of people homeless. These devastating events are affecting the entirety of Nepal and are ruining the lives of almost everyone in the country. And I am here in the hope of fundraising some money for the victims and all those displaced, left homeless and had their already difficult lives ruined by this catastrophic event.
Now there is a reason that this catastrophe sits close to me. After going to Nepal from early July to late August this year in 2024, I got selected for the U17 national football team and met lots of footballers in Nepal of all ages. Out of some of these boys were some ANFA academy youngsters (just turned teenage boys who leave their homes aged 13 to play for the National Academy of Nepal), some of whom I met with during my football endeavors in Nepal. Seeing the way that these kids idolized us U17 players really touched my heart, knowing that these struggling kids really looked up to us and that we were making a positive difference in their lives. These recent landslides in Nepal have recently brought tragic news to me, as six of the ANFA Academy youth players are among the 87 dead so far, the very same children who idolized me and my U17 teammates.
Being fortunate enough to not have to leave home and risk my life to pursue my passions and secure my future, I feel like I have a responsibility to help the young footballers and their families, as well as all those affected in Nepal who have had their homes destroyed and their lives ruined by these floods and landslides. We are all very fortunate to not have to worry about having such necessities as a safe house to live in, clean water, and sufficient food.
Any donations made would mean so much to help and fund all those who have been affected by these devastating landslides and floodings and even a small donation could help turn the life around for a struggling family in these life-threatening circumstances.
