My name is Anthony Scott. I now live in Canada, but I am originally from the White House, Longhill community in Westmoreland, Jamaica.

A few weeks ago, Hurricane Melissa severely damaged the area where I grew up, leaving over 95% of the community with nothing. Homes, belongings, tools, and essentials were destroyed, and many families are struggling just to get by each day.

Even though I’m far away, this has hit me very hard. My family, friends, and neighbours back home—people I grew up with—have lost everything. I created this fundraiser to directly support them and the wider community as they begin rebuilding their lives.

How the funds will be used

All donations will go directly toward purchasing and providing essential items for families in White House and surrounding communities, including:

    •    Generators – to supply basic electricity to households still without power

    •    Power saws – to help clear fallen trees, repair homes, and rebuild structures

    •    Food supplies – for families with limited or no access to meals

    •    Money for essential items – such as clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, baby items, bedding, and other daily necessities

    •    Emergency support for the most vulnerable residents who need urgent assistance

Every dollar raised will help us deliver these items directly to affected families so they can start rebuilding as quickly and safely as possible.
