Hello everyone, my name is Vibhav Chaturvedi and I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 368 in Berkeley Heights. I have been a scout for over 6 years and have served as the Senior Patrol leader for my troop. During my time on the Scouting trail, I have learned to appreciate what nature provides us and the value of community service. In each service project, from replanting flowers at the town's 9/11 Memorial Park to serving food during the yearly Winter Walk, I enjoy giving back to my community and want to continue to do so through my Eagle Scout Project.
In 2019, the Berkeley Heights community garden was established to support environmental sustainability, encourage environmental stewardship and awareness, and cultivate a place for people of all ages to experience the rewards of gardening.
I want to the build an American Disability Act (ADA) compliant pathway to the garden to make the area:
- Wheelchair and walker accessible
- Safer to travel even after heavy rains
- More accessible to children and families who want to visit the area
- More inviting to new people
- More prepared for future expansion
This project is approved and endorsed by:
- Berkeley Heights Township Council
- Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission
- Berkeley Heights Historic Preservation Committee
- State Historic Preservation Office
I will be working closely with the town engineer and the Berkeley Heights department of public works during this project.

I wanted to do this project because, as we’ve learned over the last couple of years, the environment is really important. Becoming sustainable is really important. I was delighted to learn about the community garden initiative and I want to support it by increasing accessibility to the garden and creating a lasting positive impact in my community as a Boy Scout.
With a sizeable amount of money required to order materials and a limited window to raise funds to complete the project this summer, please donate generously, but no donation is small, no matter the amount. Together, we can support this initiative to strengthen our community and continue growing together.
Thank you for your help,
Vibhav Chaturvedi
