- More information about Helston Railway Preservation Company Ltd: We preserve and operate historic railway locomotives, rolling stock and infrastructure on part of the original Helston branch line which ran from Gwinear Road on the main line to the market town of Helston. We do this for the benefit of community groups, education and visitors enjoyment. Currently we operate over a mile and a quarter of relaid track and are eagerly working towards extending this further to the outskirts of Helston, giving us around 3 miles of track. The Lowertown or Cober viaduct as some sources call it was featured on Michael Portillo's BBC great coastal railway journeys and is a wonderful survivor of the original railway. We have now been given the fantastic opportunity to purchase it, saving it from possible demolition and to bring it back in to use. To see trains operate over it again on their way to and from Helston will be amazing and a dream come true to our hard working volunteers who work tirelessly to move this project on. This graceful curved structure is reminiscent of another spell binding attraction on a certain school rail journey so please help bring a touch of real magic to Helston and it's railway by supporting this appeal so that once again the public can enjoy the thrill of riding over it.
