Hi, my name is Jasmyn Whelan and I am running the Women’s Mini Marathon in aid of SMA Ireland.

The reason I have chosen this charity is because my sister lives with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3. Throughout her life she has faced many difficulties and that is why she and all others with SMA inspire me everyday.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetic neuromuscular condition causing progressive muscle wasting and weakness leading to loss of movement.

The main goal of SMA Ireland is Supporting those lives affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy by sharing knowledge, raising awareness and accessing treatment until a cure is found.
