Hi there! I am Michelle Reilly, a sophomore at La Salle High School in Pasadena, CA. I have created this page in hopes of attending a 10 day service trip in northeastern Thailand this July.
This incredible opportunity is offered by Rustic Pathways, a program that empowers teens to step out of their comfort zones and make a positive global impact through international service trips. 100% of proceeds will go towards the trip's $2,000 enrollment fee.

This teen-oriented volunteer trip encompasses my passion for both service and travel. Over the course of 10 days I will participate in eight service projects designed to tackle pressing needs in rural Thai communities. These include:
~ Building houses for homeless families
~ Creating fish ponds and livestock enclosures
~ Giving kids swim lessons (Why? Drowning is the #2 cause of child deaths in Thailand)
~ Maintaining and renovating school and childcare facilities
~ Planting gardens in backyards and farms
~ Teaching Thai students English and Math
~ Interacting with disabled and neglected members of society
~ Designing games to play with disadvantaged children that promote confidence and leadership skills

The recipients of these efforts are often overlooked. Programs like the one I hope to attend drastically improve their quality of life. Even so, this trip would be just as eye opening for me as it would be for the Thai communities I hope to interact with.

I am blessed to live in a country where education is a right and my basic needs are always met. This trip is so important to me because it would allow me to extend these fundamentals around the globe.
This summer, I want to deepen my cultural awareness and engage in something meaningful on a global scale. Traveling all the way to Thailand is truly a once in a lifetime experience for me, and I am extremely grateful for any support I might receive.
Thank you and God bless :)
