My great aunt Una had lived in her house in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica for over 65 years, and in just a few minutes, the home she had created with and for her family came crashing to pieces in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.

In these few minutes, Aunt Una lost everything. All her furniture, clothes, personal belongings, and most importantly, nearly seven decades' worth of memories. Nothing was saved except for the concrete bathroom - where she and her two adult children stayed for four days until they were rescued.

Aunt Una celebrated her 92nd birthday in her home with loved ones shortly before the hurricane. This was an exciting and special day filled with love, and memories to cherish forever. Now this wonderful home has been reduced to rubble. The devastation is unbearable.

The destruction across my home country of Jamaica and other impacted countries in the Caribbean is heartbreaking, and it has been so hard watching everything unfold while living in Canada. But we believe in the power of community to effect meaningful change. We ask that you please consider making a donation and share my Aunt Una's story. The funds will be used to help her and her family rebuild their home so they can create new memories. No gift is too small and every act is sincerely appreciated.

All funds collected will be sent to the family in Jamaica via bank transfers to help with purchasing building materials to rebuild their home.

Thank you so much in advance.
