Earlier this year, my cousin Mary was diagnosed with stage 1B breast cancer. She’s only 30. As you can imagine, the news has been a whirlwind. But in true Mary fashion, she’s meeting this life-altering chapter with humor, bravery, and determination.

In her honor, Ben and I are taking on a Virtual Everest challenge: climbing 29,029 feet on Zwift, an indoor cycling game, to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). In practice, this means spending at least 12 hours riding a bike indoors. (Yes—clearly something is wrong with us that this is how we chose to spend part of the holidays.)

BCRF funds groundbreaking research that leads to new treatments and prevention strategies for breast cancer. For many young survivors, including Mary, it’s been more than a research organization—it’s been a source of connection, strength, and hope throughout recovery.

Our goal is to raise $7.5K+ in Mary’s name. We’re already close to $7K and incredibly grateful for the generosity we’ve seen so far. If you’re able, we’d deeply appreciate a contribution of any amount—every dollar truly makes a difference. And yes, we’re absolutely accepting music and TV show recommendations to help pass the time.

Thank you so much for your support. Wishing you and your families all the best as we close out 2025.
