My name is Jason Righteous Norwood. I am a West Point graduate and medically retired Army Major, and I need your help to move a racist statue from in front of the courthouse in Williamson County TX. As a patriotic American who happens to be black, I am both disgusted and appalled that the county in which I live has a monument to one of America's most violent and successful enemies- the Army of the Confederacy. As an enemy that killed nearly more than any other enemy of America, it is both Anti-American and idiotic to have a Confederate statue in front of the Williamson County Courthouse. It is particularly problematic because our local Neo-Confederate chapter rallies at that statue weekly, spreading both lies and fear to county residents.

A group, which I am a part of, has helped create a Federal Lawsuit to take both the confederates and the County Government, which has enabled their racist actions, to court to move this morally repugnant participation trophy. We have already incurred the cost and time to file and serve the involved parties and are looking for support to maintain the fight!

We have pleaded with our county government over the last two years to take this matter up and make a substantial effort to meet us halfway. Ten thousand signatures on a petition haven't swayed them from standing by the racists who contribute significantly to their campaigns, silencing us and the one member of county government who disagrees with the status quo.

I am a pro se litigant (meaning I am fighting this alone) who has fought the Taliban and Al Queada; I am asking for support to continue the fight and enlist the legal scholars necessary to be victorious. Every dime helps us create a more perfect Union, one where my children get to be seen as more than property. Thank you.
