Veteran Rebuilding After Incarceration

Donation protected
My name is Reynaldo, and I’m a U.S. Army veteran living in San Bernardino, CA. After serving 11 years and completing two combat tours in Iraq, I was honorably discharged. Recently, I was released from incarceration after two years, and I’m working hard to rebuild my life for myself, my wife, and our four dogs.

Right now, I’m facing a tough financial gap. My VA disability benefits are still pending reinstatement, and it’s been two months with no income. I’ve sent all the required documents, but the process is slow, and I’m told to keep checking back. In the meantime, I’m behind on rent for our living quarters and storage, my cell phone and gym memberships are at risk, and we’re struggling to cover food for our family—including our pets. Even bus fare is a challenge as we work toward getting a car. I’m also behind on a student loan with the Department of Education, which adds to the stress.

Despite these setbacks, I’m determined to move forward. I’ve rededicated my life to Jesus and am preparing to attend the Ventura Training Center for Cal Fire, a program that gives people like me a second chance. My focus is on rebuilding, staying positive, and supporting my family. Any help you can offer will go directly toward keeping us housed, fed, and on the path to stability. Thank you for considering a donation and for supporting a veteran’s journey to a better future!!!
