veteran in need

As a veteran that has served overseas, he has returned to the US with no place to go (homeless) and suffering from PTSD. After losing all of what little he had left, including his car, he began walking as much as 20 miles a day to look for work. While he had difficulty finding permanent work, he did notice that walking was reducing his depression and anxiety. So, after realizing that finding a job in his situation was nearly impossible, he decided to help himself and many others by walking across America. After walking the country for three years for different charities and support groups, his knees finally gave out at his 10,000th mile. However, just as he was attempting to return to a "normal life," he was diagnosed with cancer. Because he was still homeless, Jake camped out behind the hospital while undergoing treatment. To help pass the time during the next 3 months, Jake wrote a book to share his experiences of traveling the country on foot and how it helped with his PTSD. Once his book was self-published, and he had finished cancer treatment, he began selling autographed copies of his book on the streets. While his goal was to save enough money from his sales to get a car for himself, he met a homeless blind man and used all of what he had saved to buy him a vehicle to use as shelter instead. Jake then attempted to continue walking and selling his books, but his knees went out again. Thankfully, he was able to find a place to live and began selling his books online, though he was making just enough to pay for food and rent. However, his book sales have plummeted and he is facing the possibility of becoming homeless again. We ask that you help us to raise enough for Jake to get a car and to cover his rent. Jake has lived his life being someone who gives to others. Today, we are attempting to give back to him!
