We have Wonderful News: Our charity "Veteran Helps Community" has been approved as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization effective September 12, 2024. Our EIN number is available in case you need this number for tax purposes.

Update: We visited Wal-Mart 11/13/24 and purchased $350 worth of groceries for people. Thank you to Greg & Terri and Laura for your generous donations and helping us get this project started. We'll be adding more photos the next time we visit Wal-Mart. Our helper will be assisting at that time.
This GoFundMe page was organized so that I could assist people in our community to purchase groceries. We selected veterans, underserved, families in need, the disabled, families with children, people displaced from the hurricanes in FL & NC, and the elderly. I contacted the managers at Wal-Mart & Aldi to receive store approval. This project was started in September with $1,000 of my own money. Several people suggested a GoFundMe campaign to acquire additional funds. I hope you can help us accomplish this goal. Thank you for your support and making a difference. Every single penny counts! My reasons for doing this are listed below.
Thank you to the state police officer, the motel owner, and the U.S. Army for saving my life and giving me the incentive to assist other people as I have been helped.
This is the story of an abused little boy. A lawyer adopted this boy and his sister. The wife was informed about the addition to their family when the husband brought the kids home. The man died ten years later of a heart attack. My sister and I were living with a mother that did not want either of us. This woman then married a drunkard child molester. He had four kids from his previous marriage—two girls and two boys. He molested the two girls, and he beat one of his sons in the head with a two-by-four. This son has been blind for 55 years and is still alive today. When this selfish lady was about to marry this child molester, she turned to this little boy and his adopted sister and said to them, “My divorce from your father was very difficult for me so just deal with this marriage.” (She did know of his past.) My sister and I lived through hell for six ½ years.
At sixteen years old I could not take the abuse any longer, so I just walked out. No money, no clothes, no nothing. At that time, I just became homeless. I lived in the countryside and did not care about living. I did not care if I had to sleep in the woods. I was free. While walking down a country road, a state police officer stopped me. He started asking me questions about what was wrong. Seeing all my bruises I am sure he already knew. He drove me to a motel. He told me to stay in the car while he talked to the owner. After ten minutes, I went inside and spoke to the owner. He offered me a place to stay. I informed the motel owner that when I turned eighteen, I could pay him what I owed from an inheritance I would receive. We shook hands. That meant something years ago in Kentucky. I got a job in a gas station across the street and was able to eat. I was in high school at the time and bought a car for $300 to get back and forth to classes. I graduated from high school and paid my motel bill when I turned eighteen. I went into the Army at 21 years old. I spent ten ½ years serving my country.
I started helping people when I turned eighteen doing whatever I could and have never stopped. To this date, I have been helping people for 52 years. I refused to be like my stepfather. So many times, I have been told, “Thank you for your service to this country.” Recently, I started to pay for people’s groceries. With the price of groceries now, money does not go far; and I would like assistance please.
A young neighbor with a great heart was interested in what I was doing. I figured that I was getting up there in age, and this girl wanted to learn. I decided to show her diverse ways to help people. She could take over after I am gone. She has accompanied me to the grocery stores and absolutely loves giving back to our community. This veteran does not work at Wal-Mart or Aldi.
