this fund is to help out with funeral costs for my cousin Veronica Mercado 27 years old and niece Linette Cano 2 years old who were brutally murdered this morning november 6th 2015. Their bodies were discovered by police around 10am Friday inside the kitchen of their home in the 7800 block of Elvera near Fennell in southeast Houston.

Hello, My name is Lizbeth Gutierrez. My husband is Veronica Mercado's cousin; I’m sure you've heard the terrible news that she and her two year old daughter were murdered. I created this account to generate funds for the surviving family who includes Veronica's ex-husband Gustavo Cano and her two children Gustavo Jr. Cano 10 years old and Michelle Cano 6 years old. The money is being raised for them. He will be taking care of them from now on. The family needs the funds for funeral costs and expenses to cover them meanwhile he returns to work. He will get himself back on his feet in time; but for now they need the money for these reasons. This means so much to me because they are my family and I saw firsthand how it hurts everyone that knew them. The pain it’s caused throughout the community and even angered a lot of people because this shouldn't have happened. This is a terrible case of domestic violence that has caused waves throughout the whole country. I created this gofundme page to get the community involved and raise the money for them. It got national news coverage; I was interviewed on radio and even local news channels interviewed family members. Domestic violence should not be tolerated for women and those men who also suffer.
