Help Me Secure a Stable Home for My 4 Kids

I’m currently in a transition period and working to find a new apartment so my four children—ages 11, twin 8-year-olds, and 4—can spend more time together in one place.
Right now, I rely on public transportation, and with my current living situation being far from where my kids are, it’s been difficult to consistently have all of them together. That’s been the hardest part. I’m not able to manage the commute in a way that allows me to spend the kind of time with them that they deserve.
I’m coming up on the end of my sublease and need to move out by July 1st. With the next school year approaching, my kids will be split between three different schools, with two hopefully in the same area and one in the city. My goal is to find an apartment in south or southwest Brooklyn, ideally near a bus or train line, so I can realistically manage drop-offs, pickups, and time with all four of them together.
Financially, while my income has stayed the same, my child support increased at the end of last year, which made it difficult to save for a security deposit and upfront moving costs. That’s where I’m asking for help.
At this point, housing is the priority. A car would help, but it’s not realistic right now. What matters most is creating a stable home base where my kids can be comfortable, spend more time together, and have consistency during the week.
If you’re able to support in any way, it would go directly toward securing an apartment and covering the upfront costs that come with it. Even sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for any support you can give.
How the funds will be used:
The $3,600 already raised was used to help secure our current living situation during this transition. We're incredibly grateful for that support. It gave us stability when we needed it most.
Moving forward, funds will go toward:
Security deposit: ~$1,700 to $1,900
First month’s rent: ~$1,700 to $1,900
Broker fee (if required): ~$1,700 to $3,400
Moving costs (transport, basic setup): ~$500 to $800
Application fees and miscellaneous: ~$200 to $500
Estimated total needed: ~$6,000 to $8,500
Fundraiser goal: $12,000
This goal gives me a realistic path to securing an apartment and covering the upfront costs that come with moving in Brooklyn, while allowing for some flexibility depending on what’s available.
Any remaining funds will go toward maintaining stability in the first few months and creating a small rolling buffer for additional costs, including the possibility of needing to move again if a lease is not renewed after a year.
