Helping a friend in need

So something is weighing HEAVILY on my HEART today...

My precious neighbor (who I have blocked from this post) had a Walgreen's employee call me this morning and asked if I could come and get her. Her car was having to be towed. When I arrived, she was so apologetic, and asked if the tow truck could just follow me. I paid for her car to be towed, because she has very little income and is trying to save for a 'new' used engine (per the mechanic that she uses - she will need). I only know that her car is a 4 cylinder and the mechanic told her that one of the cylinders is not working.

Since the fall, she has been without a car and has relied on her church members, other neighbors and myself to take her to pick up groceries and her prescriptions. She is absolutely the sweetest lady, and lives alone and has NO FAMILY left at all. I love chatting with her, listening to her tell me about her daddy when she was little.

My heart is so sad for her, because I know in her eyes she feels like a burden to others. I really want to help her - and just have so many thoughts on how to do so. I know she is prideful, and does not want to ask for help.

If any on my friends have resources to help with looking at her car - that would be so helpful. The mechanic quoted her $2000 (and I have no idea who it is), and she said it would be summer before she could save enough money. I also thought about raising money for her, or even asking for anyone interested in 'insta-carting' her some groceries, or sending cat food to her... ALL she has is her three cats, that she LOVES dearly. Even sending her a card, or praying for her - I know would brighten her day. She is the FIRST in the neighborhood to bake cookies and deliver them to others. She is just PRECIOUS.

We all need to look after each other, especially the elderly and those that have no one left.
