Hello, my name is Robby and I need your help. I’m collecting donations for a very worthy cause—the Ventura County Rescue Mission, and their newly formed Running Club.
I know you are thinking, “Robby, Why should I care about a running club at a homeless shelter?” It’s because, I know, when you drive to work or go to the beach, you see homelessness. This is a way to help.
The running club is made up of a dozen or so men that are in the Mission’s Life Recovery Program. They have made the choice to get off the streets and kick their addiction. They have found that running is a great way to commit to goal and get their bodies healthy.
I am asking you today for a donation for Shoes. These guys are running sometimes 10 miles during their weekly workouts, in shoes that aren’t adequate—they maybe even came from the Rescue Mission Thrift store. Recently the group completed the Turkey Trot, Santa to the Sea races, and are now pursuing the Ventura Half Marathon on February 26th. I want to raise $4000 so we can get these guys some good running shoes that will allow them to get their high from running and not drugs.
Please help me get these guys new shoes. This program is gaining traction and continues to keep guys off the street.
Thanks!!!
