Hi! I’m Chris, and I live on Valley Drive in Handforth. For over a decade, I’ve looked out at the big green field between Valley Drive, Kenilworth Drive, Hope Avenue and Willow Drive and thought: this could be something really special.

So I’ve started Valley Village Gardens — a community space where neighbours of all ages can grow together, quite literally.

This project is about more than raised beds and wildflowers — it’s about creating a safe, welcoming space for our kids to explore, our community to connect, and our neighbourhood to feel proud of.

The vision:

• Raised beds to grow fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers — all to share

• A wildflower area to encourage bees, butterflies and biodiversity

• A composting zone and potting bench for hands-on learning

• Fruit trees that children can pick from year after year

• Benches for neighbours to sit, chat, and enjoy the space

• A place for local kids to get involved, help out, and see nature in action

We want this field to be a place where families stop on their way home from school, where neighbours can lend a hand or take home fresh herbs, and where our children can plant seeds and feel connected to something they helped create.
