Valerie’s fight against Multiple Myeloma

Hello All,

My name is Jessica and I wanted to take some time to share about the battle my mother-in-law, Valerie, is fighting.

Last year, she began seeing her doctor for back pain. It seemed like she tried everything for any sort of relief, but the doctors couldn’t tell her what was was causing her pain. She endured physical therapy, chiropractic visits, scans, and pain specialists with no relief. Unfortunately, the pain continued to get worse and worse. On January 13, 2023 the doctors finally thought they found the cause but it was the news that nobody wanted to hear. On February 23, 2023 she was officially diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.

Valerie has been pushing through the pain, chemo, and radiation with incredible strength. However, she will be heading to Iowa City in July where she will be receiving a bone marrow transplant. She will be in the hospital for 4 weeks with little to no immune system. Once she is back at home, she will continue to heal but won’t be able to go back to work for about 4 months.

We would like to make this tough time just a little bit easier for Valerie and her husband. If you could donate anything to help out, all money will be used for her medical bills, transportation costs, and to help cover their expenses while she will be out of work for an extended period of time.
