Help my family recover from domestic violence.

My name is Vala. You all know my children and me. I humbly ask for help from my community, family, and friends.

In early November, I was the victim of domestic violence. My nose was broken, which was painful and scary, but I will be okay. My husband was removed from the home, which also took away our household income. What meagre savings I had are diminishing fast. While I'm not here to dwell on that event, it has left me in the difficult position of being a disenfranchised housewife with no income, holidays are approaching, and we all know that bills don't just go away because life is hard.

What I need is a stop-gap. A Christmas miracle that will get us through this transition until I can find work and get back on my feet. What I need is some help coming up with initial attorney fees. Even with the reduced rate I was offered, it is more than I can afford. Although I have approached the family resource center to help with rent and utilities, there are more expenses to life than that. And while I know that eventually, I will live within my means, it is tough to face the next month or so penniless with children.

No one deserves to be abused, and I find myself in the vulnerable position of sharing my story and reaching out for help. Please, if you have anything to help me get through this experience until I can find myself back on my feet, I would be so grateful.
