Support Ryan's Road to Recovery

Hi, my name is Kailey Buck, I am here reaching out for help from the community for my best friend, Ashley’s, family. Ashley’s husband, Ryan, was in a horrible car accident February 19th, 2025, just one day after his oldest son’s 13th birthday. The impact of the crash threw him into and partially through the front windshield, his body wrapped around the steering wheel, holding onto life waiting for EMS to arrive. Upon arrival emergency responders expected him to be passed based off of the scene of the crash, thankfully they were wrong. To remove Ryan from the wreckage they had to cut him out of the windshield with the jaws of life, carefully to avoid further injury, he was rushed to U of M hospital to assess his injuries and was labeled as critical but stable condition. Ryan suffered from a shattered pelvis, dislocated leg, hip fracture, broken teeth and a C7 fracture in his spine. February 20th, he had a final scan done before heading into surgery with a team of surgeons to perform on each area in one go. First, neck and spine; they placed a spinal fusion cage to help fuse his spine bones back together - this part of surgery went perfectly and was the most worrisome, as it could’ve paralyzed him from the neck down if not done properly. The next team of surgeons came in immediately to perform hip and pelvis surgery, which went wonderfully and after 6 hours of nonstop surgery he was moved to recovery. Ryan will not be allowed to put any weight on his leg for a minimum of 10 weeks, ultimately taking him out of work now and furthermore into the near future as he continues to recover, as the sole income provider for his family of five this accident has created the start of bills piling up and now no vehicle to transport the family where they may need to get to. When Ryan is able to come home he will be out of work until he is cleared by his doctors and physical therapists, alongside this with the injury to his hip socket surgeons recommend radiation treatment to lessen the chances of severe arthritis in that area later on in life and to also lessen the chance of it breaking again. As you can imagine this is and will be a long recovery for not only him, but for his wife and kids too. Ryan and Ashley have three beautiful children, Royce - age 13, Miley - age 11 and Arya - age 2. As the two older children are of the age of understanding things, this has been a scary time for them, worrying about Dad and when they’ll see him, when he will be home, when he will get to wrestle around with them again and just be Dad. I’m reaching out to our community and all those who are able, to please pray, donate, and share this to ensure this family doesn’t lose more than they have after this horrific event. As each day passes, we are one day closer to Ryan recovering and from the Block Family to recover as a whole.
