#SAWYERSTRONG
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Lexi, Brittany’s sister and Sawyer’s aunt. After the outpouring of love and support everyone has shown us, I decided to create this gofundme for those of you who would like to donate directly to my sister and her family.
“On Thursday June 9th, our worlds became completely flipped upside down. I took Sawyer to his pediatrician because I’ve been worried about him bruising so easily and so bad, mostly on his legs. He had lab work done and after getting his results, Dr. Daher consulted with a pediatric oncologist and a pathologist to confirm that it looked like Sawyer has leukemia. After getting more labs done Friday morning, it was confirmed that Sawyer does have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We were sent to St. Mary’s in Shreveport where he was admitted for the night and then Saturday morning we were transported here to St. Jude. Brandon was thankfully able to get home from work and meet us here last night. We have seen so many different doctors and nurses and have had more information throw at us than imaginable and we’re still just trying to wrap our heads around the fact that this is our reality now. Our perfectly healthy 3 year old, who has only been sick a very few times in his life and who wasn’t even sick when I took him to get checked out, has now been diagnosed with cancer. Sawyer has done absolutely amazing through all of this the last few days though. He’s had so much lab work done and platelet transfusions and doctors and nurses checking him out multiple times a day, but he hasn’t slowed down yet. We know that we are exactly where he needs to be to get the best treatment possible. Tomorrow will be the most busy day we’ve had yet. It will probably be the moment that reality truly sets in. Sawyer will have a spinal and bone marrow biopsy done tomorrow morning along with having his port placed. He will also start chemo tomorrow. We will know more after these next few days but we are praying that he tolerates his treatment well and that he doesn’t experience too many, if any, side effects.
Please keep our little man in your prayers. We have no doubt that he will beat this. Cancer doesn’t stand a chance against him.” - Brittany
