My grandmother has been in the ICU since January after suffering two aneurysms, and after 8 long months of complications, she is now in rehab but declining both physically and mentally. She has always been a kind, selfless soul who raised and cared for so many people, never asking for anything in return. At the same time, my mother—who has lived in her home for 30 years—is now being evicted after years of the landlord refusing to fix broken plumbing, a broken heater, and repeated failed inspections. Instead of making repairs, the landlord has chosen to sell the home, leaving my mom and siblings with nowhere to go.

As a single parent raising 4 children while managing hospital bills, utilities, and the loss of financial support, my mom is carrying an unbearable burden.
