Williams journey grade 4 brain tumour Glioblastoma

Donation protected
Hi my name is Steph, I’m doing this on behalf of my younger cousin who was diagnosed back in December 2022 with a 5cm incurable tumour in his brain . That day as a family our life’s crumbled. William made the decision and under went a massive operation to try and cut away some of the tumour, they told him they couldn’t remove it all due to where it was in the brain. William bravely agreed to the operation in the hope to pro long his life with his family and friends. During the operation William took a massive stroke which caused him to lose his speech and the full use of the right side of his body. Doctors told the family just a week before Christmas that William would only survive weeks to months as he wasn’t fit enough to have any treatment. We spend Christmas Day in the queen Elizabeth hospital having what we thought would be our last Christmas dinner together as a family and with friends. William got home the next week where he started having physio therapy and speech and language therapy to try and restore williams speech. He fought so hard over the months to regain his ability never once gave up or complained with doing his exercises or training for speech. William had another appointment in January 23 where the they decided William was now fit enough to start some radiotherapy again in the hope to prolong his life. William agreed and started as soon asl he could. During his radiotherapy William was still fighting so hard with rebuilding his mobility on the right side , with his determination and resilience he learned to walk again using only 1 stick. His speech also got better as the months went on but never fully came back. We knew this was a possibility as William was also diagnosed with aphasia after having the stroke.

William was diagnosed at the age of 31 a nicer man you won’t meet he has fought like a warrior for the past 16 months beating all odds and proving doctors wrong and never failing to amaze his family with his strength and determination. Up until the start of April William managed at home doing just about everything on his own. At the Start of april 2024 william started to have headaches for a few days then before we knew it he went into a massive seizure that took the medics nearly an hour to stabilise.  All the family were called to say our goodbyes as they believed he was going to die imminent. William again proved them wrong and regained consciousness 2 days later after the massive seizure. William was moved to the Marie curie where he is now and still fighting on like the Warrior he is still amazing us all. Williams deteration has been rapid so as a family we are struggling to except this but we know now the end is near. After william fighting for 16 months sadly now doesn’t have much fight left in him. We’ve decided to do this as so many generous people have already offered money and we have always declined there kindness. William didn’t have life insurance or anything like that with only being in his early 30s it’s not something you have in place as a young man. We can’t take any the pain away from his mum but we can try take some pressure off finacally. We as a family want to also donate some money to the Marie curie as there care and continuing care for William has been second to none. Outstanding!  They are amazing human beings. If anyone would kindly like to donate anything please do it here as we didn’t like or want to take money off friends and family who have already offered. Also would like to say a massive thanks to all family, friends, strangers everyone who’s sent their love and supported William the last 16 months. As a family we can’t thank everyone enough.
