Single mother loses everything in house fire

Donation protected
With a heavy heart, I have to announce my younger sister, a single mother of 2 young boys lost her home in a fire on Monday, September 25 2023.

I write this message with a heartfelt plea to come together as a community even in these times with compassion and unity. My sister works very hard to support her young children and also volunteers in the community (coaching basketball), this fire has been a nightmare for her and the boys, one that no family should have to go through. We are so very thankful that the children and her were out at the time but their sense of stability has been taken from them. A new school year has begun, a 7th birthday just celebrated the day before, and the family routine has been turned upside down.
My nephews are highly active in sports all year round. Baseball, swimming , football, soccer, and basketball starts next week .
They just found their Halloween costumes and were looking forward to going out as Luigi, Mario and mommy was going to be Yoshi.

Their family cat , Beans was rushed to the local vet and then had to be transferred to another vet in the Fraser Valley for the specialized care that he needed for the smoke inhalation. He will be there for several days to make sure his heart doesn’t give out due to the smoke.
UPDATE on Beans : The vet has updated tonight that he is permanently blind in both his eyes and they will be monitoring to see if the damage is too much on his internal organs. She of course wants to do everything possible to keep him alive.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time, and still under investigation.
She’s always had insurance but with the new school year, new work scheduling, kids activities, birthday happening, expenses higher in daily living, she kept putting it off .... and unfortunately it’s too late.

Please consider donating and sharing this message on your social media platforms and show this young family that they’re not alone, that they can rebuild and move forward after such a horrific experience.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
Sincerely,

Katie Sparvier and family

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the clothes that were donated and purchased today from family and friends, your generosity has been overwhelming for them already.

*The funds will be allocated towards all their personal belongings and furniture to furnish a 2-3 bedroom home (once they have one again), sporting equipment/uniforms lost, school and educational supplies, necessary daily essentials, veterinarian costs if required and cat supplies/carrier if required.
