Black Lives Matter at UW

Black Lives Matter - University of Washington is an organization led by Black students to highlight the ways in which UW upholds white supremacy and that demands to change that. Additionally, we amplify the voices of community organizers and work towards rallying the UW community to join the BLM movement. Through organizing protests, rallies, and marches, we are working for liberation for all without compensation and with money out of our pockets to provide the resources needed at our protest events.

Donations made will go to compensating organizers for supplies paid for out-of-pocket, BIPOC students in need, and local mutual aids in that respective order.

Our demands:

Demands to UW:
1. Divest from SPD completely
2. Disarm UWPD
3. Divest from prison labor
4. Remove the George Washington Statue
5. Hire more Black faculty
6. Increase funding for Black RSOs
7. Increase funding for AES & AFRAM departments & change African Studies to a major

Community Demands:
1. Defund SPD
2. Reinvest in communities
3. Free all the protesters
4. No more youth jails
