Despite not realising I was trans until I was 18 I have always felt so uncomfortable about my chest, I remember being 13 and wishing I would get breast cancer so they'd have to give me a mastectomy and have a flat chest again. I am on the sandyford waitlist for NHS gender affirming care but with the state of trans health care in the UK at the moment it will be years before I even get my first appointment. I am currently paying privately for testosterone through gender gp which I am sometimes struggling to pay for and unable to put away enough money away in savings for top surgery as this money is going to private healthcare for HRT.
Being able to get top surgery would improve my life so much, my dysphoria around my chest has held me back from so many things and caused alot of extreme depression and anxiety.
I can't wait to be able to go swimming, have my shirt off at the beach on warm days, not have to wear a binder or tape iritating my skin or hurting my chest, feel comfortable wearing all the clothes I've saved for when I have a flat chest, hug people fully and properly, and to just feel so much more comfortable in myself and around other people.
I have been trying to save money on my own and do art fair stalls and fundraisers but when looking at how long it would take got me to be able to save up completely on my own like this it would take far too long and I genuinely can't wait until I slowly save up on my own or eventually get to the end of the NHS waitlist which feels like an infinite waitlist. I hate asking for help especially with money so this is a big thing for me and has taken a while for me to actually do this and accept that I do need help and I can't do everything on my own.
