UVa BME Fundraiser for Black Lives

We as a scientific community in the Biomedical Engineering department at the University of Virginia, are committed to standing with the Black Lives Matter Movement. This fundraiser will go to support 3 organizations in the local Charlottesville community that are committed to supporting racial equity through educational support and civil rights advocacy. Those organizations are below.

African American Teaching Fellows: https://www.aatf.org/
Mission: African American Teaching Fellows works to recruit, support, develop, and retain a cadre of African American teachers to serve the public schools of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

City of Promise: https://www.cityofpromise.org/
Mission: To end generational poverty and to foster a culture of achievement in which all children in our community graduate from high school, ready for college or career. We accomplish this through partnerships with our parents, neighbors, organizations, schools, and community.

Legal Aid Justice Center: https://www.justice4all.org/
Mission: The Legal Aid Justice Center partners with communities and clients to achieve justice by dismantling systems that create and perpetuate poverty. Justice means racial justice, social justice, and economic justice.
