Chelsea, Jeo, and Theo.....

Imagine having your whole life turned upside down in less than 34 hours! That is exactly what happened to our little family.

On Feb 10th around 8:15 am, our precious Theo was brought into this world via c-section. It was honestly the most breathtaking moment, and everything went perfectly with the delivery. Chelsea did wonderful & Theo was a beautiful and healthy bundle of joy. You always hear that you don’t really know what true love is until you have your own child, and Chelsea & Jeo were experiencing this kind of love for the first time when Theo made his big appearance. Jeo’s exact words… “I just can’t quit staring at him, he is so perfect”. Jeo & Chelsea’s relationship has been such a blessing, and little Theo made their relationship even more magical.

Fast forward about 34 hours (Feb 11th) …. Jeo tells Chelsea that he wasn’t feeling well and begins stumbling across her hospital room. Chelsea can hardly get up due to her cesarian, but she immediately runs out the door shouting for help from the nurses. The hospital’s rapid response team rushed to Jeo’s side, got him to the ER, and started critical care. Within a very short time span, it was determined that Jeo had a massive stroke, he was unresponsive, and he was life flighted to Nashville for life saving measures. Soon after, the doctor came to Chelsea’s room and said they needed to do an emergency discharge for her and the baby, because she needed to get to Nashville immediately, because things did not look good. HOW ON EARTH did things take such a huge turn? One moment, we are experiencing the happiest day of our life, and a few short hours later… the most traumatic. Chelsea & Theo only spent approximately 36 total hours in the hospital, and now they were having to head to another hospital in Nashville praying that Jeo would be ok. The doctors in Nashville were very honest and stated they weren’t sure what his prognosis was going to be, but we had to believe that he was going to be ok. How could he be taken away from Cheslea and Theo so soon?!?

The following day (Feb 12th), by the grace of God, Jeo woke up!! Although he had paralysis on his left side, HE WAS AWAKE!!

Fast forward 9 days…. Feb 20th Jeo and Chelsea got the news that he was being discharged and sent home due to him having no insurance. Even though he still has very limited use of his left arm, left leg, cannot stand nor walk on his own, there were no other options. The hospital staff took excellent care of him while he was there, but they could not keep him any longer due to the lack of insurance. Jeo is a very hard working, kind, and independent young man. He has worked for the same great company for 10 years, but unfortunately, he did not carry insurance. This, paired with his lack of mobility, has created a huge challenge for the whole family. As much as they want him home, Jeo can’t stay with Chelsea and Theo, as Chelsea is unable to lift him and care for him the way he needs with her recent surgery, so he is staying with his father and younger brother so they can assist in his care.

There is no way to know how long Jeo’s recovery is going to take, so paperwork has been submitted to try to qualify for Medicaid. We are praying that Jeo can qualify for this so he can get the help and physical therapy that he needs. He wants to get healthy, get back to work, and be the best possible partner and father that he can be. Chelsea is praying that Jeo is on the track to recovery before her maternity leave is up and she has to return to her position as a Rec Therapist at Rivendell.

Jeo & Chelsea hate asking for help, as they are both hard working young adults, but unfortunately, they need help right now. They are both going to keep fighting this fight every single day until their family can have a normal and happy life together like they have dreamed.

If you are able to contribute any amount at all, they are TRULY grateful! If you can’t help, we understand and ask for you to send prayers during this difficult time. As hard as this whole thing has been, we know God had a hand in things happening this way!! If Jeo would not have been in that hospital when his stroke happened, the outcome could have been VERY different, and for that we are grateful!

How on earth does only a few hours separate these photos?
